Duplicity App
Oct. 25th, 2018 05:26 pmName: Iwai Munehisa
Door: Door Pass
Canon: Persona 5
Canon Point: 12/22
Age: Unknown, likely late 30s (I place him at 38)
Appearance: Here
History: Here, with bonus confidant rank up events.
Personality: When first meeting Iwai, many people will have a lot of reservations about the kind of man that he is. The image he projects is of something of a man of mystery, a rough exterior to ward off the rest of the world. To this end, he holds on to a lot of secrets, if only because he doesn't think anyone else will be able to handle them. It has a tendency to drive a wedge between him and others, even if he doesn't realize it, and even worse it makes the most important person in his life, his son Kaoru, think that he finds him to be nothing more than a burden.
A lot of that stems from Iwai's tendency to project his own perception on to others. Having grown up with the stigma of terrible parents hanging over his head, a stigma that held him back in his own life, he can't help but feel that no matter what he does, he isn't good enough. He's a bad father. His son will think less of him he knew the truth. All things that aren't true, but because of his own insecurities, he can't help but think it's fact.
The truth of the matter is, Iwai is actually a caregiver. He took to the role of a father immediately, leaving the Yakuza behind in order to raise his adopted son, a move that many would consider a very bad idea. He's done everything he can to make sure that Kaoru has grown up with a life better than his own. Even when he starts using the protagonist to help him out with some rather shady things, he eventually comes to think of him as part of this messed up family, too. Iwai even goes so far as to use some of the Yakuza connections he still has to make sure the protagonist is safe while held in prison.
And that's the other thing about him. No matter how much he might try to distance himself from them, Iwai will likely always be involved in shady Yakuza dealings. Though his shop is largely on the up and up, he still does a lot of work that involves him having to make sure he can deceive the cops. Eavesdropping and spying are perfectly viable methods for him to employ even now. And even though Iwai has gotten older, rumor has it that once upon a time he was able to beat 50 rival gang members. He will do whatever it is he has to do to make sure his family is protected. Chaotic Good through and through.
Powers and Abilities: None. He's just a guy.
Inventory: Aside from the clothes on his back, he has a stash of suckers in one of his coat pockets, along with his phone (mostly important for the pictures of Kaoru on it).
